Happy 2009
Greetings everyone, welcome back to the Midyear Sting Rays Website. It’s time to kickoff the 2009 season and recap last years activities.
2008 Recap
2008 was a fun year, starting with the Autorama display, the Napa Valley Collection Trip, Chet & Terrie’s Tri-tip BBQ, the Fair Oaks Car Show, the Tahoe Car Show, and ending with the Chrome Bumper Corral at the Capitol City Cruisers show, just to mention a few. Click on the following link to see recaps of all the 2008 events - 2008 Event Recap & Photos. We included the Solid Axle Corvettes in some of our activities last year and plan to do so again.
2009 Autorama
Jim Orsburn entered his 1954 Kaiser Darrin (a fiberglass car made to compete with the early Corvettes) in this years Autorama. It received the best in class award, and the sweepstakes award for the Best in Show restored class. The car was prepared by Jim's new shop "J's Auto Expressions" and painted by Glen Smith of "Aces Place". Indeed not a Corvette, but the quality of work they do at "J's" was on display. Congratulations Jim!
Future Events
The Event Planning Committee has put together a schedule for 2009. Some events are the same and a few new ones have been added. Chet and Terrie’s BBQ, the Beat the Heat run to Apple Mountain and the Chrome Bumper Corral are being held again. We are also putting together the Eagles Nest & Incahoots run and the Gold Country Picnic. These events will be coordinated by a member and you will receive e-mails with details, or you can click on the following to see the 2009 event calendar - 2009 Event Calendar. Take a look, because it has a lot of other events that are not ours that you might be interested in attending as an individual or small group. Impromptu runs are encouraged and can be a lot of fun, plus a good way to meet new people and enjoy our cars. If you would like to plan a run with as few as two or as many as twenty cars, just let me know what you want to do. I will put it on the web site for you. After it is over, send me some pictures and a write-up and I will post it on the web as an event recap
Hats & Clothing
Hats will again be available for $15 at events. In addition, this year you can now order a wide variety of clothing with our clubs "MIDYEAR STING RAYS" logo embroidered on them! We have made special arrangements with Galli Shirts and Sports Apparel who also do the National Corvette Museum embroider work. Click on the following - ClubStore/GalliShirts to get instructions on how to order directly from Galli shirts.
Other Stuff
Our founder, Mark Davidson who moved to the Santa Rose area a few years ago has now moved back to this area and is part of the planning committee. Welcome back Mark!
