What a Great Spring!
The Isleton joint tour with the Solid Axle Club was very enjoyable with nice weather and good fellowship. We had approximately 46 early Corvettes participate with an almost even mix of C-1’s and C-2’s. Keep looking for pictures posted by us and also check out the Solid Axle’s link. The Hotel Del Rio did a great job serving lunch and our display was very impressive. There are not too many trips that equal the River Road for it’s scenic beauty and a feeling of how Central California was in the “olden” days, especially in a caravan of 40 plus classic Corvettes! Thanks to Ron Gaddi of the C-1 club for all his help in getting the money together and Gary Moreland for helping with the local parking needs. Let’s do this again!
The Vette Magic Show was also a fun event with nice temperatures and a good showing of classy Corvettes. It’s always is great to talk to other Mid Year owners from out of the area. They don’t publicize this event very much as they have limited space. It is basically a off shoot of the their drag race meet on Sunday.
The Lake Tahoe Corvette Club put on a great show June 11th through the 13th in South Shore. The beauty of Lake Tahoe and the 150ish Corvettes that attended made for a lot of fun. Many of our Midyear group got a chance to “hang out” and enjoy the event. Ernie Bornstein and their local club put together a 1st class program and the $75.00 per couple fee was very fair for the food, room discounts, and goodies. Larry and Sharon Luck took second place in the C-2 category. Some of us took Hwy 88 up the hill via Mormon Emigrant Trail (great views, no traffic!) with lunch at the rustic old Kirkwood Inn and on Saturday, a side excursion to historic Genoa, NV. Wonderful weather. I would recommend this to everyone!
We have been thinking of some interesting things to do for the fall and appreciate any ideas from anyone. Napa Valley, Foothill Wineries, Cool September Days (in SLT), Ironstone Concours, various car shows, potlucks, picnics, Nevada City/ Empire Mine, Sutter Creek, etc. are a few thoughts. Call Mark with your suggestions @ (916) 933-2340.
Please contact Steve McFarland (via our website) if you have any event photos to display on our website. Also remember that you can list things for sale.
Thanks to Mel Rose for setting up our first sponsor, Dave Rose Auto Repair, for our website. Please pass the word to other potential companies. The small fee helps pay for our cyber costs. We are starting to get out of town interest in our Midyear group and have had several Bay Area and High Sierra people come to our events. The word is spreading!
