What’s Happenin’!
We’re about done with our summer break so let’s get back to those open roads! There is a danger for some of us however, that with the top down we’ll end up with less hair than when we started the trip. Welcome back for a fun fall of Midyear excitement!
The Isleton outing we had in May had some nice prize donations for our luncheon that were kindly provided by Corvette World, Corvette Care, Dave Rose Auto Repair, and Mark Picasso. We expect to do this joint event again next year with the Solid Axle Club.
John Artis, of ’65 black roadster fame, has been laid up with a back problem for a couple of months. We wish him well and hope to see him and Connie soon. Can you imagine the frustration (not from missing work I’m sure!) of having all those Vette parts for the completion of his latest restoration sitting within plain sight while he’s recuperating.
Exciting Fall Activities!
Sept. 12th… Grass Valley. Empire Mine/Cruisn' the Pines Car Show. Meet at Jasper’s in Rocklin at 8:30 am. Then off to a Empire Mine tour via U.S. 80 and the back roads from Colfax. We will have free reserved parking for a group display at the Nevada County Fairgrounds “Roamin Angels”car show. Lunch at the car show. Call Steve at 966-0513.
Sept. 16th-19thth… South Lake Tahoe. Fresno Corvette Show. Call (559) 435-2717. Also the “Cool September Days” Car Show is at the Horizon Hotel. Call (530) 541-7300.
Sept. 18th… Murphys. Ironstone Concours d’ Elegance. A very enjoyable event in a beautiful Gold Rush winery setting. Call (209) 736-9285. Some of us will drive down Friday the 17th.
Sept. 23rd… Davis & Amaral Mortgage Open house. Dennis throws a mean party so don’t miss this. Come early to display your car. Free killer BBQ, trophies, live music, etc. from 5:00 to 9:00ish pm. at his company in El Dorado Hills. Call 933-9343.
Oct. 2nd… El Dorado Hills Concours d’ Elegance. We have an opportunity to help as group volunteers at this inaugural event. Call Steve at 966-0513 or Mel at 961-6788. Some perks.
Oct. 10th… Foothill Winery/Sly Park tour with the Solid Axle Club. Meet at Intel at 8:30 am and take the back roads to Shenandoah Valley and the Fairplay wine regions and then onward to Sly Park and a return through the El Dorado Gold Country. Details to follow.
Oct. 15th… Corvette Day at Thunder Hill. Check out the race track with our generous hosts, Jim and Diane Lockwood. Call (530) 644-2517 Go fast with them or go slow in your car.
Oct. 24th… Napa Valley Tour. We will meet in Sacramento and take U.S. 80 to Napa via Lake Berryessa. We will have dinner at the famous Buckhorn Steak House in Winters on the way back. Call Nyle at 939-1656. More information to follow.
